Church Membership

“God’ s love among us changes the church!”

Many people choose to support SHC by attending, serving, praying and giving as God directs and that’s awesome—thank you so much for supporting SHC ministries!

Membership is a NEXT STEP at SHC and includes the following:

1) A Testimony of your faith in Christ

2) Believer Baptism by immersion

3) Attendance at the Welcome Class.

The purpose of the Welcome class is to bring awareness to what we believe and who we are as a church. Pastor Phil will explain the SHC Statement of Faith, SHC Core Values, Baptism and Church Membership. The Elders, Ministry Staff and volunteer leaders will be introduced and will interact with class attendees. A light meal and childcare are also provided. This class is held 2-3 times throughout  the year.

You receive a Welcome Class form when you attend this class and you are encouraged to complete the information regardless of your membership desire.

During the meal time an Elder of SHC will visit with you to get to know your journey of faith better and to encourage you to take the next steps of involvement (get connected in a Life Group, serve in a ministry, sign up to be baptized, etc.). This is also a great opportunity for you to ask questions about South Hills Church that may not have been covered in the Welcome class. If you request membership at this time then the Elder will take your request to the next Elder meeting and share your desire. A letter of your membership status will be mailed to you after this meeting.

Voting members of South Hills Church have the opportunity to re-commit their membership each year.

SHC By-Laws require an annual commitment to remain an active voting member.

Current voting members will receive an information letter each September explaining how to re-commit their membership for the following year.

Commitment cards need to be returned to the church office by the last Sunday of October to be eligible to vote on Ballot Sunday (Annual Meeting), the third Sunday of November. Should you choose, for any reason, not to renew your membership your status will change to “Regular Attender”.

We understand that not everyone has a desire to be a voting member. No problem. We invite you to continue to learn and grow in your faith journey here at South Hills.

Regardless of your membership preference, as a Christ follower you are invited and encouraged to  support the local church by praying, serving, attending and giving as the Lord directs and                empowers.
