We are accepting applications until April 1, 2025.

Who is eligible for this internship program?
People who are passionate about living out the mission of South Hills Church.

Although most interns are between the ages of 18-25 and are enrolled in a college or university, this program is open to anyone seeking hands-on ministry experience for the purpose of discerning their unique ministry calling.

What will you experience as an intern?
Learning in Community
- Connection with South Hills Church staff: You are an important part of the South Hills team! You're encouraged to come to staff meetings and staff appreciation events. Forming relationships with members of the South Hills Church staff is a huge priority in this internship and it exposes you to the beauty of ministry happening as a team.
- Mentoring: Every intern will receive one-on-one mentorship and coaching from an experienced leader in their area of ministry interest.
Learning Intentionally
- Various Voices: Learning from others is key. We’ll read and discuss a book, look at various training material, and sit across the table from individuals who have years of experience in leadership and ministry.
- Feedback: Personal feedback will happen in the form of weekly check-ins and an end of internship evaluation with the purpose of coaching, encouraging, and helping you discover God’s calling in your life.
- Hands-On Ministry: You will be given ministry tasks, responsibilities and roles that align with your strengths and interests as well as ministry needs. The best way to learn something is by doing it!
Frequently Asked Questions
Is housing provided?
While we do not offer housing, we will do our best to help you find affording housing. If you are an out-of-state intern we will set you up with a host family through South Hills Church.
Will I be paid as an intern?
Yes, if you are accepted into our summer internship program you will receive $300/week for a total of $3000 to $3,600 depending on the length of your internship (typically 10 to 12 weeks long).
What is the structure of the internship?
Interns will work 40 hours a week for 10 to 12 weeks depending on their availability during the summer. Weekly we will provide intentional leadership development alongside other interns. On Tuesdays interns will participate in our weekly staff meeting. Our hope is to allow you to learn about South Hills Church as a whole, and gain understanding of more than just your specific ministry area. Tuesday through Thursday will be ministry specific hours that you will spend working alongside your coach. Sunday responsibilities will vary depending on your ministry area.

How do I become an intern?

Step Two: We will contact you for a personal interview. For applicants who live in the Tri-Cities, we require an in-person interview. Applicants who live outside the Tri-Cities area will be permitted to hold a Zoom or FaceTime interview.
Step Three: 1-2 weeks after your interview, we'll follow up with you to let you know if you've been accepted as an intern.
